Qualifications for Overseers and Deacons From 1st Timothy 3 (NIV):

1st Qualification-This presupposes that you, YOURSELF, are a born-again Christian and have a vital, active faith. Life Coaching is as indespansable a function as that of an Overseer or Deacon. (1Tmothy 3) The first qualification for the SageCraft Christian Life Coach should be that of meeting the minimum standards set forth in scripture:

“Whoever aspires to be an Overseer desires a noble task. Now the Overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect. (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?) He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as of the devil. He must also have a good reputation, with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap. In the same way, Deacons are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. 10 They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as Deacons. 11 In the same way, the women are to be worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything. 12 A Deacon must be faithful to his wife and must manage his children and his household well.

2nd –The 2nd foundation a Christian Life Coach must possess, is the ability to lead others to the Lord Jesus. (1 Tim3:2…” able to teach“…)

At a minimum, the SageCraft Christian Life Coach should know, and more importantly, be ABLE TO TEACH the “Four Spiritual Laws”. It is the very essence of what is needed to bring a person to the Saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Download Below)

The SageCraft Christian Life Coach must be able to lead others to the Lord. This is something you should be doing anyway if you are a mature Cristian. This wins a Soul and creates a Disciple; a student willing to learn; a Client ready for positive change and transformation, into conformity to the image of Jesus Christ.

From that point, the SageCraft Practitioner assists the Disciple in applying scripture and the Biblical world view to the problems of everyday living. Every Christian is part of the “Priesthood of Believers” and is a MINISTER. SageCraft is part of your Personal Ministry.

1 Tim 3:9 “They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience.” At the very minimum, you should in good conscience be able to keep the deep truths of the Faith as set down in the fundamental Creeds of the faith. 1 CORINTHIANS 15:1-8 summarizes the Creeds.

Incidentally, Scripture tells us that The Apostle Paul met with both the Apostle Peter and James, the brother of Jesus: (GALATIANS 1:18-20). It is reasonable to say that he received additional teaching from the “Oral Tradition” that was extant, WITHIN JUST 2-3 YEARS OF JESUS’ DEATH. The Nicene and Apostle’s Creeds as follows:

These requirements are every bit as valid, and vitally necessary, for the Life Coach, as they are for any other position of trust in your local Christian congregation. This is because the Life Coaching relationship is a powerful one that can either help or harm. You must be a “seasoned, experienced Christian”; one who has a solid grounding in scripture and the Wisdom of experience in walking with the Lord.

THE BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW:

The action of adopting the Biblical worldview, all by itself, can be enormously therapeutic. This creates a shift in your mindset. It can wipe away decades of self-deception and denial of Truth. You, and your perspective, alter…CHANGE. How you live your life – it is different from that moment on. It can “set in order” all your beliefs, values, attitudes, ethics, and actions. This has a cascading positive effect on your thoughts and emotions. You might begin by studying the first 11 chapters of the book of Genesis (as recommended by Ken Ham Founder of the Creation Science Museum and the Ark Encounter, in Kentucky, USA). This book covers those chapters:

Begin: A Journey Through Scriptures for Seekers and New Believers”
by Bodie Hodge and Ken Ham

Those chapters, in the book of Genesis, cover creation; that man is created in God’s image, that a man is subject to God, man’s fallen state, the reason for our fallen state is rebellion and sin.; That’s why there is suffering, disease, strife, old age, and death in the world. It explains the descent of the nations, languages, and races; that we are ALL of one blood, man’s inability to save himself, the need for a Savior, That God loves the world so much that he promised to send a “Moshiach” (Hebrew: Messiah/Savior)

In the New Testament, we find that JESUS CHRIST is that Savior and that there IS no other Savior.

In John 8:23 … “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. 24 I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins.”

You can KNOW [and be certain] you have eternal life.

1 John 5:13 “I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.” [“KNOW“, not guess]

Revelation 3:20-22 (NIV) “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me”.

The above quote conveys the idea that the relationship with Jesus Christ is meant to be close, intimate, warm, and personal. The same is true of the Life Coaching relationship.

Your Choice is Simple

As a SageCraft Christian Life Coach, you are a Disciple Maker, Minister, and a Member of a “Holy and Royal Priesthood of believers”:

1 Peter 2:5, 9: “5 you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices  acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” … “9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

The art and skills of SageCraft, are designed to be used in the ancient, traditional, time-honored format of Discipleship:

The SageCraft approach: A close, one-on-one bond. The “Discipler” sets the example and guides the Disciple in applying the Gospel to the problems of everyday Living

(James 1:22 “Be a Doer of the word and not just a hearer only, deceiving your own selves”.) You can set the example by LIVING the gospel of Jesus Christ yourself. This, more than any other defining characteristic, speaks VOLUMES before you ever open your mouth to speak. As Francis of Assissi said:

“PREACH THE GOSPEL ALWAYS. WHEN NECESSARY, USE WORDS”- Francis of Assissi

EACH ONE, REACH TWO

There is an old Christian admonition: “Each One, Reach One” but I say: “EACH ONE REACH TWO“…

Pick two people you know personally, that need to know the Lord Jesus Christ; two people that can use your Biblical guidance. From now, until the day you die, commit to having an on-going Life Coaching relationship with a minimum of 2 people, at all times. You should have at least two people [or even two couples] that you can school in Bible basics; two people you will help tutor in the skills of finding solutions and applying the Bible to the problems they face every day.
